July Starts Top Last Year in Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 9, 2012) - According to preliminary data released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), there were 42 total Thunder Bay starts in July surpassing July 2011.
"The 28 single-detached starts, two semi-detached and twelve row condominium starts combined to outpace the 34 single-detached units started in July, 2011. The condo row starts added to the five early-year condo row starts, brings the year-to-date total for this medium density form of housing to 17 units. Rising prices in the resale market are encouraging more denser forms of housing construction that offer more choice to consumers," said Warren Philp, CMHC's Northern Ontario Market Analyst.
As Canada's national housing agency, CMHC draws on more than 65 years of experience to help Canadians access a variety of high quality, environmentally sustainable and affordable housing solutions. CMHC also provides reliable, impartial and up-to-date housing market reports, analysis and knowledge to support and assist consumers and the housing industry in making informed decisions.
