Moderate Homes Market Growth in Barrie

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 14, 2012) - According to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's (CMHC) Spring Housing Market Outlook report for the Barrie CMA, demand for resale homes will increase slightly in 2012.

"The resale home market will be relatively stable through 2012, with demand coming from mostly repeat buyers. New construction will be driven in 2012 by singles and apartments.", said Edgard Navarrete, CMHC Market Analyst for the Barrie CMA. "The most important determinants for ownership demand, mortgage rates and employment, are expected to remain almost unchanged in 2012, while population growth through in-migration will support housing demand."

As Canada's national housing agency, CMHC draws on more than 65 years of experience to help Canadians access a variety of quality, environmentally sustainable and affordable housing solutions. CMHC also provides reliable, impartial and up-to-date housing market reports, analysis and knowledge to support and assist consumers and the housing industry in making informed decisions.
