
Canada BIM Council
The Canada BIM Council provides the Architectural, Engineering and Construction industry the nation's only self-regulating Building Information Modeling (BIM) authority. Our Mission is to provide industry stakeholders an advocacy, resource and standards council dedicated to supporting business, professionals, educators, purchasers of construction and related services in learning and applying best practices to the evolution of BIM in a Canadian context.
Our core management team has been assembled from cross-discipline leaders working throughout Canada: educators, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants and mixed trade association representatives. We are committed as a group of early adopters of BIM in Canada to deliver timely, non-proprietary, relevant and accurate information, programs and services to our membership.

Management Team:
R. Allan Partridge, HIP Architects, Edmonton Alberta
Allan leads the firm's commitment to leading edge technology for drafting and computer graphic imaging, rendering, and animation through the HIP.IT (Information Technology) team. The development of this group within the firm has resulted in high quality documentation and imaging of the firm's projects. Allan takes an active involvement in determining the design quality of the firm's projects. By increasing involvement in design at the earliest stages, HIP continues to be a significant design oriented firm. Allan is active in the profession, serving as chair of both the AAA Practice Review Board and Regulation Committee and past chair of Edmonton's Urban Design Review Panel. He has also lectured at a number of national and international conferences in Heritage & Conservation Management and Building Information Modeling.
Thomas Strong, BIM Development Manager, EllisDon Construction
Thomas Strong is EllisDon Construction's Building Information Modeling Development Manager. Mr. Strong is responsible for the leadership, development, strategic direction and management of the EllisDon's BIM program. Strong builds alliance relationships in technology with business partners and guides the adaption of new innovative solutions to ensure EllisDon continues to meet the evolving needs of its clients.
Mr. Strong has been active in the construction industry for 8 years, working in R&D and managing the construction of the complex feature elements of Frank Gehry's recently completed Art Gallery of Ontario project. His educational background includes Architectural technology & Plastic injection Mold Making for the automotive sector.
An outspoken advocate of leveraging 3D technologies in construction, Mr. Strong has presented to numerous industry groups & events including the OGCA symposium, Construct Canada and the Ontario Bar Association, Construction Law Section.
Paul F. Loreto, OAA,MRAIC, paul f. loreto architect inc., London, Ontario
Paul has been in practice in Southern Ontario for over 20 years and is the President of paul f. loreto architect inc. and Loreto Design Consultants - BIM Consulting Specialists, North America's only certified Revit Solutions Professional (BIM Specialist) obtaining the certification by Revit Technologies in 2002. Paul brings to the Canada BIM Council, his diverse nine years of experience as a BIM Consultant developing BIM standards and best practice methodology in the AEC industry.
One of Paul's primary responsibilities is to lead his company's technology development which has resulted in paul f. loreto architect inc. developing 100% of their architectural projects using BIM Technology. Through Paul's involvement as an Autodesk Authorized Contractor since 2002, Paul has been deeply involved with the industry's BIM movement both in the United States and in Canada. Paul understands the requirements, needs and demands placed on Building Information Modeling by the end user.
Paul graduated from Lawrence Technological University with Master of Architecture Degree (2008) and Bachelor of Architecture Degree (1989), from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree (Architectural Design) (1987) and from Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology with an Architectural Technician’s Certificate (1983).
Albert Celli, Halsall
Albert has been with Halsall for nearly 15 years and is currently the Regional Branch Manager for North Eastern Ontario, managing offices in Ottawa and Sudbury. Known for his enthusiasm and passion, he is a strong believer that teamwork and client interaction are essential if clients are going to experience true success. As a Project Principal, Albert practices a hands-on approach in making sure that both are an integral part on of every structural, restoration and green building project he works on. This hands-on approach is why he is such a strong advocate of the engineer-draftsperson while understanding the needs of the design, construction and ownership teams.
Albert consistently drives technology throughout the engineering design process in order to realize the benefits of BIM and integrated design for the betterment of his clients. For both Halsall and Albert, it is important that we use our knowledge and experience to consistently contribute to the development of standards and design improvements to produce quality documentation.
Albert, who has a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Waterloo, joined Halsall in 1995. He became a Professional Engineer in 1997 and a Halsall shareholder in 2000.
Mark Casaletto, Reed Construction Data, Markham Ontario
Mark Casaletto, V.P. and General Manager of Reed Construction Data Canada (RCD), has over 15 years leadership experience in the industry. Mark is an active speaker at industry events, providing insight and intelligence on economics and the state of the Canadian construction industry.
Mark is a Ryerson University graduate in business management with a minor in economics. Upon graduation in the early 1990s, he joined Southam Inc. and was involved in the development of key electronic products introduced in the first generation of the Internet. He later moved to Embanet Corporation, where he ultimately served as Director of Sales and Marketing. At Embanet, Mark helped lead the company to a position of global leadership in online learning solutions, working closely with such respected institutions as Johns Hopkins and Boston universities.
In 1997, Mark joined McGraw-Hill Construction, where he led the launch of several products in Canada.
In 2005, Mark completed the Strategic Leadership Program at Harvard University and, in the same year, joined Reed Construction Data as General Manager. He has since steered this 90-year-old company, recognized as the authoritative voice of Canada's construction industry, into the digital age by turning their Web sites into respected and popular sources for Canadian construction news, project data and building product information.
Ganesh Bala, Education & Affiliations, Master of Design, University of New South Wales, Australia Board of Director, Canada BIM Council Member, CSC Edmonton Chapter
Ganesh Bala is a design practitioner who has been using information filled computer generated 3D models since 1988 in various CAD (Computer Aided Design) software's in the Unix, Apple Macintosh & IBM PC compatibles.
Ganesh has lived, studied and worked in Europe, Asia & Australia. He has implemented computer based design technology for various AEC firms globally. As a BIM software beta tester for various platforms, Ganesh has an excellent understanding of all the current BIM methodologies.
Currently with Cohos Evamy integratedesign? as the National BIM Manager he is implementing BIM in the fields of Architecture, Structure, Mechanical, Electrical, Interior Design, Sustainability & Specification in all their Studios. Including managing, training & mentoring 300 + technical staff in REVIT Architecture, Structure & MEP along with 3DS MAX Design & Navis Manage Accompanied by a passion for 3D technology that is constantly evolving within the virtual building science environment, Ganesh champions the art of IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) through BIM collaborative guidelines defining current practices and paving way for a seamless "one team one process" ideology.
Dr. Amin Hammad, Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering
Amin joined the faculty of CIISE at Concordia University in 2003.
Prior to joining Concordia, he held faculty and visiting positions at Nagoya University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Tokyo.
His research interests are in the area of computer-aided engineering with special focus on applications in the fields of infrastructure and urban management systems. Examples of his research projects include lifecycle management systems of transportation infrastructure, mobile augmented reality support systems for engineering field tasks, urban simulation systems using virtual reality, and recycling management of construction materials and industrial by-products.
Amin has obtained the following educational credentials: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Nagoya University , Japan, 1993 M.S. in Civil Engineering, Nagoya University , Japan, 1990 , B.S.
in Civil Engineering, Damascus University, Syria (5 years degree), 1986.
Bob Hildenbrandt, P. Eng. Vice-President, Calgary Ledcor Construction Limited
Bob Hildenbrandt has been part of the construction industry in Calgary for more than 30 years. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a BSc. in Civil Engineering in 1978 and started his career with PCL Construction as a Project Coordinator. Bob progressed through the roles of District Engineer and Senior Project Manager before moving to Ledcor Construction in 1992.
With Ledcor, Bob’s responsibilities grew to become Operations Manager, and then Branch Manager in 2000. In 2005, Bob was promoted to Vice-President and oversees Ledcor’s Building group in Southern Alberta.
Bob was President of the Calgary Construction Association in 2002, and the Chairman of the Alberta Construction Association for 2005 and 2006. He has been a member of the Calgary board since 2001 and the Canadian Construction Association board since 2005.
Bob is a member of APEGGA (Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta), a Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certificate holder, and a LEED Accredited Professional. He lives in Calgary and has two young adult daughters.
Al Prowse, H. Griffiths Company Limited
Al started working with H. Griffiths Company Limited in 1977. He served his apprenticeship with the company and eventually began running work. When the
need arose Al moved into the office as an estimator and became Chief Estimator in the early nineties. Al has recently been appointed President of the Company in
2005 and looks forward to a very bright future.
Al is active with the Mechanical Contractors Association and serves on the following committees:
- MCAT (Mechanical Contractors Association of Toronto), 2nd Vice President, Board of Governors.
- MCAT, Education Committee Chair.
- MCAT Representative on The Toronto Trade Contractor's Standard Practice Committee.
- Past Chair of the Construction Bid Depository of Ontario.
- MCAC Representative on the cBc (Canada BIM Council).
- MCAC Representative on a National Steering Committee with the Construction Sector Council to identify the skills and competencies required of building operators related to the push for energy efficiency and conservation in today's high-tech buildings.
