A billion dollar mine in B.C. has entered the public input stage. Taseko Mines Limited has submitted its environmental impact statement for a mine in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region, but is running into opposition from aboriginal groups who say hearing procedures do not respect their culture.

A recent promise from B.C. premier Christy Clark to replace the aging Massey Tunnel has the support of Port Metro Vancouver. Planning for the new tunnel is slated to begin soon.

SNC-Lavalin has been named as the preferred proponent for the Evergreen Line rapid transit project connecting Burnaby, Coquitlam and Port Moody, B.C. Look for a story from staff writer Richard Gilbert next week.
