In this week's update, we look at some of the stories we'll be covering in the Journal of Commerce for the week of October 1st, 2012.

The province of Saskatchewan is cracking down on motorists speeding through construction zones. The safety blitz is in response to the recent death of traffic control person Ashley Dawn Richards, who was killed on August 24.

A new report from B.C. economist Helmut Pastrick predicts construction will lead growth over the next five years. Pastrick listed non-residential construction as the main driver, with residential construction picking up steam later in the five-year forecast.

Patricia Williams has an article about the Consulting Engineering Companies of Canada’s take on the recent Canadian Infrastructure Report Card released by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Our feature video this week is an interview with Dee Miller of JJM Construction and former chair of the Canadian Construction Association. Miller recently spoke to the VRCA U40 group about the future of the construction industry.
