The Sears Building in downtown Vancouver is getting an extreme makeover. The windowless exterior of the building will be removed and the shell will be clad with glass. U.S. retail giant Nordstrom is the anchor tenant, and is slated to open to the public by 2015.

The British Columbia Construction Association is rolling out a new program to link potential employers and skilled foreign workers. The Foreign Skilled Workers BC program was created in March 2012 and now features a web site where both employers and potential employees can connect online and in person.

Stephen Bauld has a new column about full-life costs and best value in procurement, and make sure to check out our Occupational Health and Safety feature out on Wednesday, September 26th.

Our feature video this week spotlights the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturer’s Association of Canada Awards of Excellence, held last week in Vancouver.
