The B.C. government has committed to doubling fines for drivers speeding in construction zones. The B.C. Flaggers Association has applauded the move, but questioned the numerous delays they have faced in the past year attempting to find out which ministry has jurisdiction over the appropriate regulations.
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has released an infrastructure report card that warns urban infrastructure is “at risk.” Canadian Construction Association president Michael Atkinson calls the report card “a good first step.”
The biggest interchange construction work in British Columbia history is taking place in Coquitlam as the Port Mann Bridge/Highway 1 project nears completion. Fifteen new ramps are being built and traffic patterns will be affected over the coming months.
