Newfoundland announces $16.8 million for community centre, infrastructure in St. John’s
The Newfoundland and Labrador department of Municipal Affairs recently announced the province will invest $16.8 million into new municipal infrastructure in St. John's.
Projects will include a new community centre for Southlands, street rehabilitation, sidewalk replacement, retaining wall rehabilitation, bridge rehabilitation and non-profit housing.
The total investment, when the city's share is factored in, is $35.1 million.
"The City of St. John’s has approved the city moving forward with the required concept designs for a new Southlands Community Centre," the province stated. "A public meeting has been held with the residents of Southlands to acquire their input into the project. Once the concept designs are completed, council will go back to the public for another consultation process."
