Alex Carrick, chief economist of Reed Construction Data, discusses the latest industrial capacity utilization rates released by Statistics Canada.
StatsCan has released, for several sectors, the rate of industrial capacity utilization, which is the proportion of potential output that is actually being used during a given time frame.
When the usage rate exceeds about 85 per cent, owners and decision-makers begin to think more seriously about increasing their physical plant.
