Finning Canada to lay off 170 Western Canadian workers

EDMONTON

A company spokesman has confirmed that Finning Canada, headquartered in Edmonton, will lose jobs as part of 170 total layoffs in Western Canada.

Jeff Howard says the company employs 4,000 people in Western Canada, and about 1,100 of those are in Edmonton.

Finning Canada is part of Finning International, which is headquartered in Vancouver.

The company is the world’s largest dealer of Caterpillar heavy construction equipment.

Finning’s website notes Finning Canada was established in 1933 by Earl B. Finning who’d been a Caterpillar salesman in California.
