New Brunswick set to tender ambulance facilities
FREDERICTON
Officials with New Brunswick’s ambulance service say they’re accepting tenders for the construction of a new base in Fredericton and other facilities around the province.
Many of the provincial ambulance system’s fleet centres, administrative offices and paramedic stations are operating out of temporary locations.
The Fredericton facility is one of several sites officials are hoping to upgrade.
Ambulance NB is planning an approximately 1,100 square-metre centre on the city’s north side. Spokesperson Isabelle Landry says a central location is important for new facilities. “Location is essential to our response times. We must be located centrally and we need (to have) good access to main roads or highways.”
The competition for successful bids ends Oct. 5.
