Consulting Engineers of Ontario

CEO to become Association of Canadian Engineering Companies of Ontario

Toronto

The board of Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) has been given a mandate to proceed with changing the organization’s name to the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies of Ontario (ACEC Ontario).

The name change, however, is not immediately in effect. A number of legal and other requirements must first be met.

The rebranding is intended to distinguish CEO from other organizations such as Professional Engineers Ontario and to convey that the association represents private sector engineering companies, rather than individual consultants.

The move, in line with a name change at the national level, also will allow CEO to better leverage advocacy initiatives being undertaken by the Association of Canadian Engineering Companies, says CEO president John Gamble.

The Ottawa-based association has launched an aggressive advertising campaign designed to promote the value of engineering in society and of private engineering firms.

The CEO board got a green light to proceed at its recent annual meeting. It has been directed to develop a comprehensive implementation plan, including a branding and marketing strategy directed at both internal and external stakeholders.
