Inquest set into death of construction worker

GUELPH

Ontario’s Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Ontario has announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Timothy James DaSilva.

Mr. DaSilva, 20, died July 15, 2006, from injuries received during working at a bike track construction site in Halton Hills. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project.

The inquest will review the circumstances surrounding DaSilva’s death and the inquest jury may make recommendations aimed at the prevention of similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and will hear from approximately 13 witnesses. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on May 27 at the Best Western Milton Inn, 161 Chisholm Drive, Milton.
