Kiewit builds iron constitution into Pitt River Bridge

Ironworkers tie-in rebar on one of the concrete support columns that will help carry the load of the new eight-lane Pitt River Bridge just outside Vancouver.

The general contractor on the Pitt River Bridge project is Peter Kiewit Sons Co.

Engineers on the project include Associated Engineering Ltd. (structural) and PBA Engineering Ltd. (electrical).

The existing bridges will remain operational during construction. The federal government is providing $90 million and the province is providing $108 million for the project, which is expected to be completed by late 2009.
