Next month’s demolition will begin construction process at 1 Bloor condo project

TORONTO

Demolition is expected to get under way next month at the southeast corner of Yonge and Bloor streets to accommodate construction of the 1 Bloor condo-hotel-retail project.

When completed, the development will boast three major elements: an 80-storey residential tower, a three-level podium with more than 100,000 square feet of retail space and a 132-room boutique hotel.

Construction of the tower and podium will begin by early fall, developer Bazis International Inc. said in a news release.

Hotel details are to be announced at a later date.

Some 500 condominium suites will occupy the upper floors of the tower.

The one-acre site runs south along Yonge Street from Bloor Street East to Hayden Street and then east to the existing office tower at 33 Bloor East.
