Final assembly continues on the steel canopy on the $13.5-million Wellesley Central Place long-term care facility in the heart of Toronto. The four-storey, 150-bed project is part of the redevelopment of the former Wellesley Hospital site. Construction is scheduled for completion this spring on the facility, designed by Toronto’s Farrow Partnership Architects Inc. The project team includes structural engineers Halsall Associates; mechanical-electrical engineers Merber Corp.; civil engineers Valdor Engineering; and landscape architects Quinn Design Associates. Project and construction manager TriAxis Construction Ltd. started work in August 2003. Key subtrades include: Dundas Iron & Steel Ltd. (structural steel); Gilbert Steel Ltd. (rebar); St. Mary’s CBM (concrete supply); Municipal Mechanical Contractors Ltd.; and Jenner Electric Ltd.
