Work moves upwards for the new University College Student Residence at the University of Toronto. General contractor Aecon Buildings began the 13-storey, 271-unit tower last March and completion has been scheduled for May. The 101,000-square-foot building will be equipped with a full service kitchen and servery. The project was designed by Zeidler Partnership Architects. Consultants are: Halsall Associates Ltd. (structural); Hidi Rae Consulting Engineers Inc. (mechanical/electrical); and Ferris &$43; Associates Inc. (landscape). Subcontractors include: Costa Earthmoving Inc. (excavation); Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Resform Construction Ltd. (formwork); Gilbert Steel Ltd. (rebar supply); Toll Steel Industries Ltd. (structural steel); Innocon Inc. (concrete supply); Adelt Mechanical Works Ltd.; Nortown Electrical Contractors Associates; General Sprinklers Inc.; Marin (2000) Inc. (drywall); Global Architectural Metals Inc. (windows); Flynn Canada Ltd. (roofing); Vicwest (cladding); Lee Elevator Service Ltd.; and The Downsview Group (asphalt/paving).
