BUILDING FOR RESEARCH

Exterior work continues at the University of Toronto for the Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research. General contractor Vanbots Construction Corp. began the 12-storey facility in July 2003. It is scheduled to be completed this spring. The centre was designed by architects Alliance. Consultants are: Yolles (structural); H.H. Angus & Associates Ltd. (mechanical/electrical); and Diana Gerrard Landscape Architecture. Subcontractors include: Ground Works Construction (excavation); Shor-Cais Consulting Ltd. (shoring/caissons); Hardrock Forming Co. (formwork); Res Precast Inc. (precast); Azimuth Three Enterprises Inc. (structural steel); Dufferin Concrete (concrete supply); Squire Masonry Ltd. (masonry); Urban Mechanical Contracting (mechanical); Guild Electric (electrical); Furgeson-Neudorf Glass Inc. (windows); Bothwell-Accurate Co. Ltd. (roofing); and Otis Canada Inc. (elevators).
